The coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in all parts of China and its surrounding countries including countries in the west like the United States, France, and Germany. A new report reveals that the Trump administration went against the advice of experts regarding keeping the coronavirus-infected people out of the country.
Politicalflare reports that the Trump administration was advised by the Centers for Disease Control to keep those who were infected by the coronavirus in Japan, where they could receive better treatment. However, it appears that the State Department did not listen to their advice and instead continued to bring the infected people to the country. There were 14 Americans who were infected by the coronavirus, and thus the CDC wanted to keep them out of the United States until they recovered so as to prevent transmitting the virus onto healthy people.
As an alternative, the State Department thought it was best to isolate the infected people in one part of the plane, the part that could be wrapped in plastic so the covering could be disposed upon alighting the plane. Naturally, that did not work. According to a senior official, “It was like the worst nightmare. Quite frankly, the alternative could have been pulling grandma out in the pouring rain, and that would’ve been bad too.”
Nevertheless, the United States is one of the countries that are affected by the global pandemic, which has killed thousands of people in China, and two confirmed fatalities in South Korea, the country with the most number of cases outside China. The Guardian reports that the cases of people who contracted the coronavirus went from 142 to a drastic 346, with the majority of these cases coming from Daegu and the surrounding areas outside the capital of Seoul.
It is said that a 61-year old woman from Daegu was responsible for the rapid increase in cases. She is believed to have infected the dozens or hundreds of fellow worshippers in the controversial Shincheonji Church of Jesus. 92 of the cases were traced to patients or staff at the Cheongdo Daenam hospital which is also in Daegu and coincidentally, in the same area as the Shincheonji Church of Jesus.
