First Lady Melania Trump has constantly reached out to Americans in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic that continues to rage on in the country. The First Lady gave a special shoutout to all the graduates of 2020 during the White House event.
Melania posted several tweets addressing the year’s graduates, several of whom attended the event held at the White House. Photos from the event showed the graduates who were present and maintaining social distancing from each other as Melania made her congratulatory remarks to the students who are graduating this year with educational institutions resorting to taking on a different means to hold their graduation ceremonies.
“Graduation is a pivotal moment for students of all education levels. The President of the United States and I were proud to recognize and celebrate the class of 2020 with a few graduates at the White House yesterday. Keep chasing your dreams and striving to be your best self!” tweeted Melania.
During the event at the White House, Melania addressed the different methods students had to take in finishing their studies. Melania also noted how many students missed out on experiencing school functions like proms and dances as well as sporting events due to the pandemic. The First Lady and the President handed out certificates to the graduates that were present and took photos.
At the same time, Melania’s stepdaughter Tiffany Trump also recently graduated from Georgetown Law School and was unable to attend the traditional ceremony because of the pandemic.
The First Lady previously appeared in the CNN global town hall to discuss the pandemic. Melania addressed the new “normal” that many Americans are facing even after the national lockdown was lifted. She also expressed her gratitude towards students for doing their part in keeping their respective communities healthy and urged them to look after themselves in many ways like reading, engaging in sports, or helping at home.
This marks Melania’s first appearance on the network that is often criticized by her husband, labeling it “Fake News.” The segment was hosted by Anderson Cooper, who has often been very critical of Trump.
